[Col. R. Hogan]

*walks with all the arrogance of an SS general*
*is taking that uniform and making it his bitch*
*also has the monocle in again*
*gives Schultz a return salute once he comes to a stop*
"Guten Abend, Feldwebel. I am Brigadeführer und Generalmajor Aurick Schwarz. You may stand at ease."
*looks Schultz up and down*
"Would you, by chance, happen to be Oberst Klink's aide? If not, you shall tell me who is."

Schultz:
*stands at ease and dares a stealthy glance at the brigadeführer, who#s voice awfully sounds like Hogan's even if it's German*
*but he hears nuuu-thing*
It is me, Herr Brigadeführer!
*who awfully looks like Hogan*
*but he sees nuu-thing!*
Feldwebel Schultz
How can I help you?
*and he really doesn't want to know!*

[Col. R. Hogan]

*is genuinely suprised Schultz doesn't recognize him*
*God only knows he's seen them in costumes enough*
*but not really because he always turns a blind eye*
*wonders how someone who "sees, hears and knows nothing" ever made it into the Luftwaffe*
*or the Wehrmacht in general*
*reasons that the rest of them "know nothing" too and that's why they're losing the war*
*a good leader leads by example*
*Come to think of it, that explained everything right there*
"Gut. To put it bluntly, Feldwebel Schultz, Oberst Klink has had a rough night. Suffice it to say Sturmbannführer Hochstetter is the type of man who gives all of us a bad name."
*takes out the monocle* 
*proceeds to tell him everything he told Hochstetter*
*wants to ensure Schultz isn't clueless if the major should ask questions*
*gestures to the kommandant's quarters*
"Your commanding officer is quite hungover after enjoying the drinks I bought for him, so it wouldn’t be advisable for you or anyone else to make a lot of noise around him. Men have been shot for less. I do, however, expect you to take better care of Oberst Klink than usual. Is that understood?"

Schultz:
*salutes and stands at attention*

Jawohl, Herr Colonel!! ...ääähhh.... Herr Brigadeführer, i mean...

*sheepishly hurries away*

*when he has finished the counting he turns to the Kommandantur o see if Klink would come out, but he doesn't really expect it*
*he has known the Kommandant long enough to know that he likes to hole up in his bedroom when he's upset about something*
*the Kommandant is very much like Schultz's teenage daughter in that regard*
*when the Kommandant doesn't appear after a short while he decides to dismiss the men*

*gives them all a half-hearted salute and turns towards the guard's mess for breakfast*

*wonders what all happened with his CO last night*
*especially since Hogan had gone straight to bed without talking to them after changing back into his uniform last night*
*and still looks depressed this morning*
*talks to his teammates to ask their opinion after roll call*
*all agree they should try and see if they can get a straight answer*
*so he leads the way into Barracks 2*
*knocks on Hogan’s door*

*is sitting on his bottom bunk*
*still hasn't decided if he should tell his team that Klink knows about them or not*
*hears a knock on the door*
"Come in!"
*cocks his head to the side when he sees all 4 of them enter his room*
"Hi fellas, what's going on?"
*his internal alarm bells go off when his door is closed*
*they don't do that unless the news is bad*
*feels a headache forming*
"Wait, don't tell me..London wants us to hold up the 7th SS Panzer Division now that the 6th one is kaput. Am I close?"

Kinch:
Sir,...
*as always the difficult task has fallen on him*
we wanted to ask ...
*he doesn't really want to ask as he already offered to listen to the colonels problems yesterday and doesn't want to push him, but the others had agreed and that was democracy*
to be frank, we wanted to ask why you seem to be upset. 
Your plan worked out well, after all.
*watches the colonel hoping to catch a sign of what is going on*

*looks away*
"It’s just this thing with Klink, that's all. There's nothing to worry about."

*is so surprised that the question is out before he realises that it's impolite to pry*
*The colonel never had such issues with Klink before, so it seems really weird*
*face darkens*
What 'as the filthy Boche done?

"Nothing!"
*the exclamation flies out of his mouth before he can stop it*
*he knows he can't tell them he and Klink had amazing sex*
*and he definitely can't tell then it happened more than once*
*or that he initiated it*
*he would lose their respect if he did*
*not to mention his command, his career - everything*
*doesn't fancy trading an escapable German jail for a non-escapable American one*
*but that doesn't mean he can't level with them about the operation thing*
*he is so sick of lying to everyone*
*it's getting hard to remember what he said to whom*
*scrubs at his face*
"You guys, I told Klink about the operation. He knows all of it. I'm no traitor or anything, but...well, I just couldn't keep lying to him."
*sighs heavily*
*waits for the verbal fallout*

*mouth drops open in shock*
"You WHAT?!?"
*stares at Hogan in disbelief*
"Guv'nor, have you gone 'round the bend?!? He'll shoot us all!"

*stares at Hogan in disbelief*

Kinch: 
*is at a loss*
*a suspicion dawns on him*

You're not trying to tell me, that old blood n guts is on our side?!!

*is grateful Kinch gets it*
*nods his head*
"That's exactly what I'm trying to tell you, Kinch. He's known since the day the inspector showed up. Needless to say, he freaked at first. He promised me he wouldn't betray us, though...and I believe him."
*runs a hand through his hair*
"Klink hates the Nazis more than we do. They've turned his homeland into something twisted and vile, ruined it to the point where people think German equals Nazi. That's a stigma it's gonna take this country decades - maybe even centuries - to shake."
*sighs*
"Anyhow, Klink could have sold us out at any time. But he didn’t. Actually, he came to warn me yesterday, to tell me we should pack up and leave before he inevitably cracked. He knew he wouldn't be able to hold out against Hochstetter..."
*trails off before his voice can choke up*
*takes a few deep breaths*
"Klink’s a good man, guys. He really is. Unfortunately, he, Schultz and Langenscheidt all happen to be wearing the wrong uniform."

[Col. R. Hogan]

*has been silently listening the entire time*
*looks thoughtful*
"You know, that explains a lot. I was wondering how you were gonna talk to him as yourself last night when you were dressed like that."
*shrugs*
"I trust you, boy...I mean, sir. You've never steered us wrong yet. Besides, Klink does seem like he turns a blind eye somtimes. One of those times was that incident at the Hofbräuhaus."
*looks at his other friends*
"Remind me to tell all of you what he told Hochstetter later on, fellas. I thought the major was gonna faint at one point!"

*Shakes his head*

*furrows his eyebrows together*
"Doesn't Klink 'ave the Iron Cross, sir?"

"He has the Iron Cross, First Class, Newkirk. Klink got both of 'em in the first war for bravery. But nobody goes from being brave to being a coward that quickly, which is another thing that tells me his spineless act is just that: an act."
*is proud he remembered what Klink had once told him what his various awards were for*
*that feeling fades as he turns to Kinch*
*fidgets a bit at the question*
"I...I kinda let him think I was gonna let him die." *hastily* "We'd gotten into one of our usual arguments the night before. This time, tempers flared hotter than normal, probably because we were drinking. Some hurtful things were said. I was still mad the next day, so I figured I'd make him sweat for a while. I admit that wasn't one of my better ideas."

"Logically, that makes perfect sense. If the goons think Klink’s an inept coward, they're more likely to leave him alone. He's hiding in plain sight, just like we are."
*shakes his head in wonder*
*is soon staring at his CO in disbelief again*
"You really...whoa. Gee, that was pretty mean of you, Colonel."
