*glares at Schultz* *growls* "Bah! Zere is so much funny business around this camp, I wouldn't be surprised if he teleported in and out!" *looks at Hogan* "Well, Hogan? Yes or no?"

*has been thinking about his answer the entire time everyone else has been talking* *is also still battling with feelings of grief, extreme hurt, and rage* *speaks in a cool tone* "I don't know why you're so glad to see me for, Kommandant. I'm your enemy, remember?" *buys himself time to think things through by making a witty remark* "First of all, Major, that's not a lot of time to plan a going-away party. I'd appreciate some advance notice next time; cakes take time to bake." *makes a show of studying the photo* "That sure looks like Colonel Klink to me...unless there's any other Luftwaffe officers of his rank in this area. There isn't, is there?"

*that foto sure looks like him, but who is the other person? where and most of all when did Hochstetter get this?!* *feels fingers going numb again from fear* *still hangs there like a wet rag* Hogan, please! *whispers because he doesn't have the strength in him to be louder* this is no time for jokes!

*looks at Klink once more, his eyes showing how hurt and angry he is* *same cool tone* "I'm not joking, Kommandant. There was a time I tried to be nice to you, but you flat-out told me you'd prefer us to be enemies. I'm only doing what you wanted." *addresses Hochstetter* "In that case, the man in this photo is definitely Colonel Klink. No question about it. Regarding your question about he and I playing chess, the answer is no. After the last roll call of the day - which is at 1900 hours - I didn't see him until the 0600 hours one this morning. Looks like you've got the right man." *keeps his expression neutral* "Do you have an exact time you're planning to come pick him up? I much prefer the mental image of Colonel Klink to the real thing; makes my life far less complicated that way." *bitter note creeps into his voice as he parrots Klink’s words*

LeBeau:
*in front of the coffee pot* *gasps when Hogan says Hochstetter's got the right man* *looks at Kinch with wide eyes* *hasn't the colonel always said the operation wouldn't work with any other Kommandant?*

*looks like his birthday has come early* *cackles* "Excellent! Danke schön, Colonel Hogan. You have been quite helpful. In answer to your question, I think 2000 hours shall work quite nicely. I should be done with my preparations at Gestapo Headquarters by then." *looks at Klink* "Should you think about taking the coward's way out, remember that ze Gestapo has everyone's address. I do not think you want me to pay your mother a visit, eh? Or your sister, although that one might be more...fun...for me." *dirty laugh* *makes a motion like he's crushing something* "Tonight, you shall pay for your treason in a most unpleasant manner, Klink. But for now, I am putting this photo back in my jacket so it stays safe." *does so* *clicks his heels together* "Auf Wiedersehen, Herr Kommandant!" *whirls around and exits the building*

Hogan! Please, i didn't mean it like that!! *whimpers* *his vision goes black again for a moment when Hogan says Hochstter has the right man* *gasps for air and feels like he is drowning in despair* *How could Hogan lie to get him killed?!* *what happened`?!* *stares at Hogan with wide eyes* *Does Hogan really want to see him dead for saying something stupid when he was agitated? *is his life worth so little?* *he can't believe it* *feels like crying* *when Hogan says the thing about the mental image he feels his heart break at how much Hogan hates him* *he wants to scream at Hogan and tell Hochstetter that Hogan is lying and at the same time he wants to beg Hogan for forgiveness* *but nothing comes out of his mouth except despereat gasps for air as he feels he's suffocating* *doesn't really hear Hochstetters next words because his mind is so foggy with hurt and fear* *when Hochstetter says he will hurt his sister it finally gets through to him* You can't do that Hochstetter! *his voice still is breathless but at least its above a whipser again* You have no right...! *gets up but has to fight for balance* Wait! *as Hochstetter turns to leave* *his voice becomes stronger but it is shrill* You know that this picture is a fake!! It won't hold in an investigation!! You can't just shoot me and expect noone to aks questions! *sounds extremelly desperate*

*stops and looks over his shoulder* *soft, dangerous tone* "I know nothing of ze sort, Klink. All I know is that you are a traitor with nobody left to protect you." *growls* "You would be surprised what I can get away with, dummkopf. I suggest you don't make things worse for yourself than zey are already going to be." *evil chuckle* "As it stands right now, I have several days' worth of new interrogation methods to try out before I allow to die. And I can assure you, I will have a lot of fun with every one of zem. Hearing you scream shall be music to my ears!" *continues to chuckle as he walks away*

*can't believe Hochstetter actually threatened Klink’s family* *that's a new low even for the Gestapo* *feels awful when he hears Klink's words* *horrified joins the mix once Hochstetter replies* *knows there's nothing he can do now except carry out his plan* *struggles to keep his neutral expression* *looks at Schultz after the major is gone* *doesn't even look at Klink because he'll wind up begging for forgiveness if he sees those blue eyes right now* *speaks in a quiet voice* "Well, I'm going back to my barracks now. See you guys later."
-In Barracks 2-
*looks at Kinch and LeBeau the moment he enters the room, Newkirk trailing behind him* "I know what you're thinking, fellas...I can see it on your faces. Don't worry, we're not actually gonna let Klink be executed. I just want him to sweat for a long time." *turns to Newkirk* "You pick up anything interesting from our local Gestapo agent?"

*grins as he pulls a few things out of his jacket* "Sure did, Gov'nor. Let's see 'ere...some matches, a few cigarettes, 50 Reichmarks, and a photo of Klink." *frowns* "Now why in the ruddy hell would ol' Hochstetter have a photo of 'im for?"

*when Hochstetter is so clear about what he plans for Klink his legs finally give out* *is covered in cold sweat* *his ears are ringing so loud that he doesn't hear Hogan's cold comment as he takes his leave. Which is better because this might have broken his heart for good* *his vision narrows and goes black again as he sinks to the floor between chair and desk*

Schultz: *hurries to his Kommandant and kneels next to him, as Klink blinks at him without seeing him* Hilda! *calls* Please! get some water and a wet cloth for the Kommandant! schnell! *feels extremely sorry for the man. They had their differences but torture and death is definitely not an adequate punishment for arrogance... he doesn't deserve it* *also can't believe what Hogan did. He can't wrap his mind aroudn that AT ALL*

*slowly comes to again as Schultz wipes his brow and Hilda worriedly looks down on him glass of water in hand* *feels sick* *grabs for the bin and throws up into it* *when he's done Hilda hands him the glass with trembling hands and tears in her eyes* *takes the glass and sips as he sits against the wall trying not to cry* *wants to say thank you but knows he would start to cry if he opens his mouth now* *tries to regain his self control by concentrating on his breathing* *how could Hogan do that to him?!* *feels so heartbroken that Hogan would just willingly turn him over to Hochstetter, that Hogan doesn't care at all about what happens to him, that he even hates him so much that he just accepts Klink being tortured for no reason at all* *so all the sweet things Hogan told him were lies after all, the claim to protect him when the allies came...* *he'd much rather be shot by some overmotivated allied offcer than being tortured to death in a Gestapo basement* *is unsure which is worse, that Hochstetter is going to torture him or that Hogan doesn't care in the slightest* *stares at the glass in his shaking hands as his mind races* *finally gains enough control over his numb limbs to climb into his chair* please leave me alone *flatly* *Hilda leaves as she doesn't know what to do or say to help and Schultz follows looking very unhappy about leaving the Kommandant alone* *when Schultz is at the door he calls out to him* Schultz! Please... *Schultz turns around to him looking worried* please... *his voice breaks* ask Hogan to come see me? *schultz nods and answers with a soft "Jawohl"* *when the door is closed he sinks into himself in his chair and queitly starts sobbing for the first time in over 30 years*

Schultz: *barges into Barracks2 angrier than anyone has ever seen him* Colonel Hogan! How could you?!! has the Kommandant not always been fair to you?! How can you turn him over to the Gestapo?! *his anger fades as confusion rises* I don't understand... The poor man... noone deserves that... Colonel Hogan, how could you...? *pleading*

*has just finished explaining his plan to his men* *looks up when Schultz barges in* *is suprised to see the normally jovial Sergeant of the Guard so angry* *opens his mouth to speak* *but doesn't get a chance to before Schultz goes off on him* *feels guilty because he knows Klink has been fair to him - to all of them* *is seriously struggling to keep a tough stance* *chooses to speak in a casual tone* "I don’t know why you're so upset, Schultz. You don't even like him. Besides, Klink's got a way of always getting himself out of trouble. I'm sure he'll be fine." *doesn't add "that way is me and I've basically told him to fuck off."*

Schultz: Colonel Hogan!! *reproachful* I don't need to like a man to not want them to be tortured! And besides! *sounds pained* you know exactly, Colonel Hogan, that you are his way of getting out of trouble! *now his voice is pleading again* Colonel Hogan, pleeeeasee...! You can't let that horrible person take him! Pleeeaaase do something! *looks at Hogan with his typical wide and innocent Schultz expression that only wants for a quiet peaceful life* And... And go to him. *looks sad remembering how broken the Kommandant looked and sounded* I really don't know why he wants to see you, after what you did. But he asks you to come and see him... so please, Colonel Hogan, go and see him. And do something!

*doesn't deny that he's Klink’s saving grace 98% of the time* *feels weird being lectured by Schultz* *like a kid being lectured by his kindly old grandpa* *wonders just how strange one war can possibly get* *decides not to ask questions he doesn’t want the answers to* *sighs* "Alright, Schultz. I'll head over there right now. Can't make any promises, though." *pauses* "Just...just keep an eye on Klink today." *leaves his barracks*
-In the Kommandantur-
*walks into the building* *knocks on Klink’s office door* "Schultz says you wanted to see me, Kommandant?"
